Here’s another Flint Hydraulics Tech Tip: Load weight resists the flow of oil, but so does all the friction in the mechanical members of the machine. It is an error to ignore mechanical losses in a machine. Such mechanical inefficiencies can diminish the total force capacity of a cylinder, wear out parts too rapidly, burn fuel excessively, cause hydraulic system heat, and overload the engine.
